Top 5 Android Malware and Theft Protection Apps

There is so much malware now everywhere that we just can’t leave our Android phones without any protection as we used to do several years ago. Fortunately, there are many good security apps for Android now, and they’ll protect your phone from viruses, different malware and even from being stolen or lost.
Here are the top 5 security apps for Android I’ve seen and used:
1- Lookout is one of the best security apps for Android I’ve ever seen. It offers not only anti-virus protection, but a missing device locator, too (if your phone is lost or stolen, the app can show its location on an online map and even sound an alarm from the device – very useful). The app is free, but there is a premium version, too, which costs $29.99 per year and adds a couple of functions the free version didn’t have (like remote lock, data wipe and a number of other privacy protection features).
2- McAfee WaveSecure is another good app, which doesn’t offer any anti-virus protection, but it can help you backup and restore the needed data on your phone, or locate it or lock it (this function workd just like with Lookout, but it gives you the opportunity to display a custom message to the person who has found or stolen your device). The app is available for $19.90 per year – not bad for your phone’s safety.
3- Webroot is the next Android security app I can’t help adding to my list. It comes in two versions, just like Lookout – Webroot Mobile Security Basic (comes for free and offers you a “standard” pack of features all Android users need – anti-virus protection, secure web browsing and device lock) and Webroot Mobile Security (costs $14.99 per year and adds some extra features like SIM card lock, remote device wipe and others).
4- Norton Mobile Security is one of my most favorite security apps, just like the Norton Anti-virus for PC. The Norton app is beta yet (so it’s free, of course), but it has all the function one requests from a security app, including anti-virus protection, the ability to locate your device remotely and lock it or the SIM card.
5- Trend Micro Mobile Security is one of the cheapest apps from my list (sold for only $3.99 per year), but it offers some functions other similar apps don’t. For example, it will prevent you from downloading malicious apps; it will also provide you phishing protection and parental control and will block the phone calls and messages you don’t want to hear/see.
