Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator

Muhammad Rizwan asks that whenever he tries to open the task manager, he is encountered by the following error:

“Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator”
Here is solution from the Microsoft article about enabling the task manager:
Enabling Task Manager from Group Policy Editor
1. Go to “Start” -> “Run” -> Write “Gpedit.msc” and press on “Enter” button.
2. Navigate to “User Configuration” -> “Administrative Templates” -> “System” -> “Ctrl+Alt+Del Options”
3. In the right side of the screen verity that “Remove Task Manager”” option set to “Disable” or “Not Configured”.
4. Close “Gpedit.msc” MMC.
5. Go to “Start” -> “Run” -> Write “gpupdate /force” and press on “Enter” button.
Enabling Task Manager from Registry Editor
1. Go to “Start” -> “Run” -> Write “regedit” and press on “Enter” button.
Warning: Modifying your registry can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system.
Always backup your files before doing this registry hack.
2. Navigate to the following registry keys and verity that following settings set to default:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Policies\\System]
“DisableTaskMgr”=dword:00000000
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Group Policy Objects\\LocalUser\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Policies\System]
“DisableTaskMgr”=dword:00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\policies\\system\\]
“DisableTaskMgr”=dword:00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\Winlogon]
“DisableCAD”=dword:00000000
3. Reboot the computer.
For your convenience, I have created a registry file. Just download, double click it and add the info to your registry. The task manager will be enabled. Post your experiences please.

Enabling Task Manager from the Run Menu
Abdullah mailed me this solution. Go to Start –> Run and copy and paste the following and press OK.
REG add HKCU\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Policies\\System /v DisableTaskMgr /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

I used TM-fix and run the command “REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableTaskMgr /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f” as well, it stopped the error and tries to load the task manager, but it crashes within 2 secs. I have a major bad spyware problem right now and i am running 2 programs to fix it
Ive tried 10 different ways to enable the task manager and still it goes back to disabled…any ideas….my computer is really screwed up}:(

  18. helpinghand

    i found this somewhere. this might help..not so sure..but worth a try.goodluck.
Virus scan, spybot, and ad-adware will not detect the problem. The problem is a worm called W32/bropia.worm gen that you get from email. The reason that virus scan does not detact the worm is that system restore is still running. 1) first disable system restore in the control panel. 2) then restart your computer and run virus scan to get rid of the worm. you can restart system restore later. Run all the other scanin g systems you have to .

    3) select all crap and delete it (shift + del)
    4) in the menubar click on folders(right next to search option
    5) now u’ll be able to see the folder “heap41a” in the left side of your screen
    6)delete it …(shift + del)
    7) goto orkut hav fun 🙂

    http://technodigits.wordpress.com/2007/06/21/cannot-delete-file-or-folder/
You only have to install mozilla and then start working on it .. it’s like internet explorer .. no big differences in usage.

    Hi!
I tried those steps but they did not work at all. It says that registry editor has been disabled by your administrator eventhough I am logged-in as Administrator.
Sometimes while I’am playing, I am just being alt+tabbed automatically always.
    Need help with this.
    Thanks.
