Install/Uninstall Microsoft Live Products

A few days back Ermal mailed me about the problem of Microsoft Live messenger not getting uninstalled.  Here is exactly what he says:

Hello!
U have done a great work with your site. Everyon can find help with your informations.
But i have a little problem.
How can i remove completely MSN Live Messenger from my system?
I have tried everything but nothing happened!
I have tried Zap Messenger. = Nothing
I have tried the scrips that i find on the net. = Nothing
When i tried to install windows live messenger from Microsoft site it says that installation have been canceled
and when i tried to install WL.msi(messenger 9) it says that i have a new version and i must uninstall that!!!!!
Please if u can help me with some informations!

When I asked about the version of the software installed, here was his response:

I’m using windows live messenger beta9(downloaded from somewhere) and my PC have XP pro SP2!
I can’t install any version of live messenger because it says do me that i have installed a new version and i must uninstall it firts!!!!!

I did a little research and found out that this is the case with most of the latest (2009) beta versions of Microsoft Live products including the following:

  • Windows Live Messenger
  • Windows Live Mail
  • Windows Live Toolbar
  • Windows Live Photo Gallery

So here are some of the uninstall methods that were provided by messengergeek.
Windows Live Messenger Beta
Version 2009: 14.0.5027.908 (0908)
Download installer – Messenger.msi
You will also need to install: DW 2.0 Client (32-bit) or DW 2.0 Client (64-bit), Microsoft Visual Studio Runtime, Contacts
Optional secondary component: Windows Live Call
To uninstall these secondary components, see Secondary Components below.
To uninstall Windows Live Messenger Beta, click Start, then Run (if not using Vista), type/paste the following and press Enter:
msiexec /x {B1403D7D-C725-4858-AACC-7E5FA2D72859}
You can also uninstall Messenger 2009 (even if the above isn’t working) by using my ZapMessenger utiilty.
Windows Live Mail Beta
Version 2008: 14.0.5027.0908
Download Installer – Mail.msi
You will also need to install: DW 2.0 Client (32-bit) or DW 2.0 Client (64-bit), Microsoft Visual Studio Runtime, Contacts
To uninstall these secondary components, see Secondary Components below.
To uninstall Windows Live Mail Beta, click Start, then Run (if not using Vista), type/paste the following and press Enter:
msiexec /x {DFD6935E-D94A-4DBE-AD8F-E37CBC6B577F}
Windows Live Toolbar Beta
Version: 14.00.5023.0902
Download Installer – wltinstall.msi
You will also need to install:
Search Enhancement Pack
To uninstall these secondary components, see Secondary Components below.
To uninstall Windows Live Toolbar Beta, click Start, then Run (if not using Vista), type/paste the following and press Enter:
msiexec /x {5524A0D4-F826-4961-9B53-EFF6C615251B}

    After upadating some MS-Live components, rebooting my XP-SP3 system causes explorer to open a window that contain folder c:\Program Files\Microsoft\Search Enhancement Pack
    I searched the web and found something that is supposed to uninstall “search enhancemnet pack”. I ran it and it seemed to uninstall something, but rebooted yields the same results–open window.
    Is there any help short of uninstalling and re-installing all Live products? That scares me more than living with this problem.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    please help me to unistall windows live mail- I have the file 14.0.8064.206 installed on 02/06/2009.when I installed it it came into my system as windows essentials containing mail, messinger,installer,sync,toolbar,contacts,writer,photogallery.my operating system is xp service pack 3.when i go to controll panel it wont let me unistall.when i go to c drive to remove individually it doesnt work . dont know what to do can anyone help me?? thankyou -scott

    sanix–I did try the above and it did not work my file version is 14.0.8064.206 maybe i need the product code . If i do I dont know how to find it .I’m only hoping someone else has had the same problem and there would be a copy and paste and all would be done. any other suggestions?? thanks—scott

      scott please uninstall the window live products using handy uninstaller. I have tested it and it successfully removes windows live products. Download handy uninstaller from the following location:

    Does the uninstaller allow you to selectively choose which components to uninstall? For example, can I choose to uninstall “Search Enhancement Pack”, only?
