Google Maps Initiated Offline Mode Along With 3D For Android

What else one should know about getting directions or finding address than Google Maps? Google Maps have been very handy when used in mobiles too. Google has continuously been working on updates and upgrades to its product. And now the new result is the offline mode in Google Maps for Android. There are some more features which have also been embedded to Google maps like 3D view for more than 100 cities and an excellent feature of multi-touch input.
Google has worked hard on it graphics engine to re-make it to support vector graphics. Vector graphics include displaying of 3D buildings on your device. One point to ponder about vector graphics rendering in Google Maps is that these graphics or images are not rendered on server or are not pre-rendered. This means that they are generated on your device making your scaling seamless.

The multi-touch input and gesture method enables you to rotate the screen. This feature will only work in multi-touch supported phones. Currently the following phones are supporting this feature:

  • Samsung I9000 Galaxy S
  • Nexus S
  • T-Mobile G2
  • Motorola Droid
  • HTC Evo 4G
  • Motorola Droid X
  • Motorola Droid 2
  • HTC Droid Incredible

The new features of Google Maps make cashing of images very easy and fast. Vector graphics are quiet brilliant when it comes to size and seed. These new features will surely rock Google Maps for Mobile 5 users. Google is hopeful to launch the new update very soon for the above phones. However, the non-Android phones are not stated in the recent press release buy the Google so it is not sure that whether they will support the new features or not.
