Sometimes the thumbnails of images and videos may get corrupted and the thumbnails don’t show exactly like the pictures or videos contained in the files. I’ve encountered this situation while using Windows 7.
So how do we solve this problem? The way is simple. Windows Disk Cleanup Tool now includes Thumbnails as an option. If we check that option while running the cleanup tool on a drive, all the thumbnails will be deleted and will be created again if we open the images and videos folder again.
Here’s the step by step process.
- Go to Windows Orb –> All Programs –> Accessories –> System Tools –> Disk Cleanup
- Alternatively you can type cleanmgr in Run and you’ll get Disk Cleanup.
- Choose the drive you want to clean.
- In the options, make sure to check Thumbnails checkbox.
- Press OK.
This will reset all the thumbnails in the drive and Windows will generate new thumbnails once the files are opened again
