There have been so many times when I’m installing a new application or software and the app gives me a message that it need a particular version of DotNet Framework in order to work properly. And there is no simple way to see which version of DotNet Framework is installed on the system.
Sometimes there are multiple versions of DotNet Framework installed on the system and it’s very difficult to see which of them are installed. There is a utility called DetectDotNet which tells which versions of DotNet Framework are installed on the system.DetectDotNet is portable so it can be placed in a USB pen drive and used where ever needed.

Nice utility!
I believe you can also look at the %WINDIR%\Microsoft.NET\Framework folder to see which versions are installed, though you won’t know what service packs levels the frameworks are at.

not necessary. Just go to control panel | add or remove programs to check.
