Microsoft has pushed their latest Windows 7 Activation Update checker which checks whether Windows 7 is activated legally through Microsoft or it has been cracked using several activation methods. Installing this update creates a process that checks for activation method of the Windows every now and then to see if the Windows is legal.
Fortunately Microsoft has made it easy for the people who don’t want this update to uninstall it. If you haven’t downloaded and installed this update then you can disable it using the following method:
Block Windows 7 Activation Update KB971033
- Go to Start Menu and write Windows Update in the Start Menu Search
- Select Windows Update to go to Windows Update program
- Select Optional Updates
- Search for the update labeled “Update for Windows 7 (KB971033)”
- Right click it and select Hide Update
This will disable this update from automatically installing into your system.
Uninstall Windows 7 Activation Update KB971033
If you have already installed this update. Don’t worry! Let me tell you how to uninstall this update the safer way.
- Go to Control Panel –> Programs –> View installed Updates
- Search for “Update for Windows 7 (KB971033)”
- Right click it and select Uninstall.
- This will uninstall this activation update and you’ll be able to use your Windows 7 without any overloads from Microsoft 🙂

Uninstalling the update does nothing …. restoring to a restore point before this update doesn’t “fix” anything either. I did both of these and I still get the message the my Windows 7 isn’t genuine and still get occasional pop-ups saying the same. The ONLY fix is to NOT install this update.
I accidentally installed KB971033. To fix it, I reformatted the hard drive using a backup image of my system from Windows Home Server.
This update was automatically installed on my system 2/28/10…after that my computer would not start. I had to do the Start Repair twice and then finally a System Resore each time I started my computer…today I got smart and disabled auto-update and will do some research before downloading any Windows updates. I’m a PC but Windows 7 was not my idea!
You guys didnt have to reformat your computer….I was in the same boat then I found a way to preserve my copy of windows 7. I woke up one morning to see my computer telling me I had a non-genuine copy of windows 7. I went to Google to find a fix and this is what I came up with…1) uninstall the update KB971033 (2) look up “New Windows 7 Activator [2010] [blaze69] in Google or in the torrents and follow the instructions from there on. This file actually reactivates your copy of windows as a genuine copy and removes the non genuine annoying sticker. (3) Disable the KB971033 from installing by right clicking on the update in the Add and remove section of control panel for windows update.
I just installed win 7 on a laptop. Followed the instructions above but on windows 7 Ultimate in windows updates when all updates are installed, but not this one I don’t have an OPTIONAL UPDATES to check so this doesn’t work. Anyone else have any suggestions that do work?

I followed the instructiones to unstall de kb971003, but when a went to add or remove section this file didnt apear in the list but in the windows update it is?
I don´t know what to do??

If you don’t have KB971033 in your Add or Remove section, then most probably the update has not been installed on your system.

If you follow Jason’s lil’ tutorial and you have that KB971033 , then you will be in a relaxed state as you will never see that wh000 message you again, then again only if you are not retarded and install that wh000 again 🙂

does this update will make ur system damaged? i mean after i reactivate my windows my graphics (especially videos) became different from b4?? i mean i think it lessen its resolution… and aside from that my fontstyle in my internet browser my times new roman in MSword turns all italic….that was annoying anything i can do to change it to default?

Jasons method worked perfectly, but tyou have to restart comp after pressing the RemoveWAT thing for it to work, doesnt say that in the ReadMe file 🙂

After restarting I changed desktop theme from black to Windows 7 theme in Control Panel, and that is that, over and done.
