norton sux i had it. it very often hanged up and it showed me its not responding and i couldn’t end it and the only way to fix it was to reset the pc. many times got infected with it.

My experience with Norton has been the same but I’ve heard that the new Norton Internet Security has improved a lot in performance aspect. Would you like to recommend any alternative and effective internet security solution better than Norton?

now i am using AVG IS 2011. it almost perfect but i am not sure how much resources it uses although it looks like not much. what IS do u recommend which uses the least resources? not some homemade antivirus but a known one.
@amerkiller1995
I always look at AV-Comparitives reports as they perform independent testing of antiviruses. The latest December report shows the following AV on top in terms of performance:
Sophos
eScan
K7
Avira
AVG
Microsoft Security Essentials
Kingsoft
F-Secure
ESET NOD32
And the following are on top in terms of detection rates:
G DATA
Panda
Avira
Kaspersky
Sophos
ESET NOD32
F-Secure
Bitdefender
e-Scan
Microsoft Security Essentials
Symantec
K7
i know AV-Comparitives but they frequently do tests each with different results. btw i dont trust escan or k7 bcoz i never heard of them
@amerkiller1995
Me too. I’ve used eScan but it’s not very good. Actually it was being used by one of my clients and I replaced it with Kaspersky Antivirus which is my Antivirus of choice.
@Sanix
i have used kaspersky but my internet connection speed was reduced and it used too much resources. i think i will stick to avg 2011.
@amerkiller1995
AVG is no doubt very good but I prefer Avira Antivir over AVG.
@Sanix
i just looked at http://www.av-test.org/certifications and norton looks good
i may try it
btw i had avira and it was slow and ugly
Wow .. that’s quite a good site but it’s only giving the comparison of Internet Security Suites. AVG and Avira both are good in my opinion.
