VirtualBox 4.2.14 Build 86644: Virtualize Your Operating System

VirtualBox is a general-purpose full virtualizer for x86 hardware. Targeted at server, desktop and embedded use, it is now the only professional-quality virtualization solution that is also Open Source Software.

Some of the features of VirtualBox are:

  • Modularity. VirtualBox has an extremely modular design with well-defined internal programming interfaces and a client/server design. This makes it easy to control it from several interfaces at once: for example, you can start a virtual machine in a typical virtual machine GUI and then control that machine from the command line, or possibly remotely. VirtualBox also comes with a full Software Development Kit: even though it is Open Source Software, you don’t have to hack the source to write a new interface for VirtualBox.
  • Virtual machine descriptions in XML. The configuration settings of virtual machines are stored entirely in XML and are independent of the local machines. Virtual machine definitions can therefore easily be ported to other computers.

If you are using Microsoft Windows as a host as well as a guest machine, then you can safely use Microsoft Virtual PC because it will create the virtual machine faster and will run with less resources. For all other Operating Systems as guests while Windows as host, VirtualBox is the best virtualization software.

6 Tips For Choosing a File Recovery Software

Losing all the data that you have saved on your hard disk can be very frustrating – however, if you’ve done it by mistake, don’t panic, as there are ways in which you can recover the lost data.

There are scores of companies that offer software tools related to data recovery, but first, avoid shutting down your computer, because you may lose the deleted data permanently if that happens.

Here are a few tips to help you make a smart choice when choosing a recovery software.

Tip #1: Make the Right Choice

You’ll be spoilt for choice while choosing between recovery software, so here’s a tip: always select software that will help you recover different file formats.

The process of recovering any file – .psd, .pdf, .idd, or .wav file ? is the same. If an advertisement mentions that the software recovers only a specific type of file, then don’t go for it. These are marketing tricks designed to lure you into buying more software as you usually lose more than a single type of file when you accidentally delete a folder. Do a proper research and go for cost-effective software. Remember, choose cost-effective, not cheap.

Tip #2: The Importance of Updated Recovery Software

Buy recently developed software, because file formats keep changing. Buying an old software will not help in recovering new file formats, and it won’t serve the purpose. It’s a better and wiser option to go for updated software, which is capable of detecting all the files.

Tip #3: Know Your Software

Choose recovery software that is relatively known and trusted over the one that is cheaply priced. Unknown software tools can harm your computer by infiltrating it with spyware or viruses. Purchase software only from companies that have a reputation among computer users or companies you have heard of.

Check for details like address and customer service numbers through which you can contact the company in case things don’t work out. These details will help build trust in you, as some companies use multiple fake websites to market their products. You can also check if these companies can be contacted on social networking sites.

Tip #4: How Much Do You Spend?

Price is definitely a deciding factor. It is advisable to avoid spending a bomb on your recovery software, because you need to be very sure of what you are getting in return for the money. Get your recovery software from a company that has a tech support team, and make sure that it can recover files from an unbootable hard disk. However, keep your options open, as sometimes free software can do the trick as well.

Tip #5: 100% Recovery?

No software can promise you 100% recovery, every single time you lose data. Hard drives are susceptible to external damages too. Don’t be duped by companies promising 100% recovery, because this is simply not possible.

Tip #6: The Final Advice

Towards the end, it’s a safer option to store a backup of all your data in an external hard disk or a DVD/CD. When your computer crashes and you lose all your data on it, a backup is always a life-saver.

The Facebook app is now available for essentially any tablet device, with an easy to navigate and customizable interface for optimal browsing convenience. With some of the latest versions of the app, you can even click on the “Nearby” feature to view a Google maps page pinpointing the whereabouts of all your friends on a world map.

3. Trendster HD

Twitter enthusiasts will love this user-friendly new app, which allows you to keep up with the latest Twitter trends whether you actually have your own Twitter account or not. Trendster HD not only lists the most recent trending topics on Twitter, but also offers an explanation in the form of a sample collection of tweets and a quick definition and overview of the subject. If the subject is particularly interesting to you, you can even click the “learn more” tab to receive a more detailed understanding of what everyone is talking about. Trendster HD lets you filter by location, so you can keep up with what your peers are talking about a little closer to home.

4. Skype

When opening the app, the screen automatically splits in two—with your contacts list located neatly on the left and your conversation window on the right. 5 Best Social Media Apps For Your Smartphone

Now that many more of us are using our smartphones to carry out our social networking chores on a daily basis, the demand for apps that enable you to get the job done quickly and efficiently are growing by the day. However, with so many of these software widgets and websites around, it can be a little difficult task deciding on what’s going to be best for your needs.

If you’re a keen blogger then it’s a good idea to go mobile with your postings so that you can update your online activities whenever and wherever you’re headed. Something like WordPress is ideal for this, because it allows you to build a blog from scratch and then manage your content accordingly. The mobile version has been suitably fine-tuned to fit into a smaller space while the controls are as good as ever.

Evernote is another smartphone-friendly app that can be used to create rich text lists plus all of the other bells and whistles that blogging creators need when they’re putting together content when they’re out and about. Thanks to a neat little snippet view, you can harness all the power of the normal software program but use it to full effect even on a small smartphone screen area.

Tumblr continues to impress users both new and old and that’s not surprising because it’s one of the best blogging tools you can get for the smartphone device. It’s been cleverly downsized so that you can enjoy all of the usual features and functionality of the full version while it also has the capacity for integrating contacts from your address book too, so it works in a very efficient manner.

Another quick and easy solution for blogging needs is Blogger, which is a well-known application thanks to it’s incredibly simple to use interface. The mobile version is even better than the desktop counterpart, while thanks to it being thought up by Google means that it works really well with a Google account if you’re already using Gmail or their Docs online tools.

Needless to say, if you’re just after a way of social networking without the blogging then the Facebook app is another essential piece of software to install on your smartphone. Thanks to it being re-engineered to work on the smaller platform, you get all of the power tools of the desktop version, but it’s all really well condensed into the space of a smartphone screen.

This is really just a handful of the many and varied social networking apps that you can get for the smartphone handset. However, one thing to watch if you’re keen to explore this area more is that the quality control found on something like the Android Market can be a little hit and miss. So, before installing anything, it’s a good idea to read some reviews by fellow social networking types, just to ensure you’re going to use a program that delivers the goods.

Today we’re going to talk about the reverse scenario in which we can use multiple mouse and keyboard on one computer. Normally when we attach two mouse or keyboards, both the mouse use the same cursor in order to move. But if we want to work in a collaboration environment, we would need multiple mouse and keyboards. See the picture below for example.
