Free Accounting Software for Windows With Comprehensive Financial Reports

If you are running a small business, you will absolutely be using an accounting software because it makes the business run smooth and you can see whether your company is going in profit or in loss at the click of a button. You can also take preventive measures to prevent the loss and make gains in profits. Unfortunately, the big names in accounting software have very complex software because it needs to be suited for so many varieties of businesses. A simple small business owner needs a simple accounting software which can do his job quickly and easily without any hassles of entering a plethora of information.

Manager is free accounting software for Windows which can be termed as the perfect choice for small businesses. It features a very intuitive and easy to use interface which even a novice can also operate.

After installation, when you run Manager for the first time, you will need to create a new profile. The Manager profile is create with the extension as .manager.

Manager accounting software

The interface of Manager free accounting software is quite intuitive and easy to understand and use. On the left hand pane, it will display a list of actions and reports that you can take. It is as simple as entering the money in entity for receiving money and money out for outward payments.

The receipt and payment entry is also very easy to fill out. No complex entries. Just enter a few basic questions and you’re done.

receipt created in manager accounting software

It also features the invoices and bills for customers and suppliers. You can create and print invoices to give to your customers and bills can be printed and given to the suppliers. There are three basic accounting reports that can be created using the Manager software, Journal entries, profit and loss statement and balance sheet. Since most of the small businesses need only these reports, Manager does a good job in organizing and compiling these reports. You can also print these reports from the software interface just by clicking the print button in the toolbar.

Another interesting feature about Manager that I have found to be very useful is that it can also be used as a web app. You only have to start the software and you can access it anywhere by using the URL of the web app. To start using via web, just click on the Web access button on the toolbar in order to start the app in the default browser. You can also access it remotely by using your IP address instead of localhost in the address bar. But you have to keep in mind that opening the port on which Manager is operating is very important otherwise it will not be able to get access from outside of the local network. Unfortunately there is no way to change the port on which Manager is operating. You will need to open the same port as used by Manager.

Another thing that I think is lacking in Manager is that I can’t organize all my accounts (Bank accounts + Cash accounts) within the Manager app. This seems to be a very basic issue and needs to be sorted or very soon. I hope the developer of the software will do something about this issue in the coming releases.

Additionally if you are looking for investments and partnerships in your business, the best way to do this is to use P3 software. For those who don’t know abaout P3, also known as PPP, it means Public Private Partnership in which a business is funded and run by a partnership of government and private sector companies. This can be extremely hard to achieve without any financial software involved. You can also use PFI software to create the P3 partnerships among the government and the private sector.

6 Tips For Choosing a File Recovery Software

Losing all the data that you have saved on your hard disk can be very frustrating – however, if you’ve done it by mistake, don’t panic, as there are ways in which you can recover the lost data.

There are scores of companies that offer software tools related to data recovery, but first, avoid shutting down your computer, because you may lose the deleted data permanently if that happens.

Here are a few tips to help you make a smart choice when choosing a recovery software.

Tip #1: Make the Right Choice

You’ll be spoilt for choice while choosing between recovery software, so here’s a tip: always select software that will help you recover different file formats.

The process of recovering any file – .psd, .pdf, .idd, or .wav file ? is the same. If an advertisement mentions that the software recovers only a specific type of file, then don’t go for it. These are marketing tricks designed to lure you into buying more software as you usually lose more than a single type of file when you accidentally delete a folder. Do a proper research and go for cost-effective software. Remember, choose cost-effective, not cheap.

Tip #2: The Importance of Updated Recovery Software

Buy recently developed software, because file formats keep changing. Buying an old software will not help in recovering new file formats, and it won’t serve the purpose. It’s a better and wiser option to go for updated software, which is capable of detecting all the files.

Tip #3: Know Your Software

Choose recovery software that is relatively known and trusted over the one that is cheaply priced. Unknown software tools can harm your computer by infiltrating it with spyware or viruses. Purchase software only from companies that have a reputation among computer users or companies you have heard of.

Check for details like address and customer service numbers through which you can contact the company in case things don’t work out. These details will help build trust in you, as some companies use multiple fake websites to market their products. You can also check if these companies can be contacted on social networking sites.

Tip #4: How Much Do You Spend?

Price is definitely a deciding factor. It is advisable to avoid spending a bomb on your recovery software, because you need to be very sure of what you are getting in return for the money. Get your recovery software from a company that has a tech support team, and make sure that it can recover files from an unbootable hard disk. However, keep your options open, as sometimes free software can do the trick as well.

Tip #5: 100% Recovery?

No software can promise you 100% recovery, every single time you lose data. Hard drives are susceptible to external damages too. Don’t be duped by companies promising 100% recovery, because this is simply not possible.

Tip #6: The Final Advice

Towards the end, it’s a safer option to store a backup of all your data in an external hard disk or a DVD/CD. When your computer crashes and you lose all your data on it, a backup is always a life-saver.

The Facebook app is now available for essentially any tablet device, with an easy to navigate and customizable interface for optimal browsing convenience. With some of the latest versions of the app, you can even click on the “Nearby” feature to view a Google maps page pinpointing the whereabouts of all your friends on a world map.

5 Best Social Media Apps For Your Smartphone

Now that many more of us are using our smartphones to carry out our social networking chores on a daily basis, the demand for apps that enable you to get the job done quickly and efficiently are growing by the day. However, with so many of these software widgets and websites around, it can be a little difficult task deciding on what’s going to be best for your needs.

If you’re a keen blogger then it’s a good idea to go mobile with your postings so that you can update your online activities whenever and wherever you’re headed. Something like WordPress is ideal for this, because it allows you to build a blog from scratch and then manage your content accordingly. The mobile version has been suitably fine-tuned to fit into a smaller space while the controls are as good as ever.

Evernote is another smartphone-friendly app that can be used to create rich text lists plus all of the other bells and whistles that blogging creators need when they’re putting together content when they’re out and about. Thanks to a neat little snippet view, you can harness all the power of the normal software program but use it to full effect even on a small smartphone screen area.

Tumblr continues to impress users both new and old and that’s not surprising because it’s one of the best blogging tools you can get for the smartphone device. It’s been cleverly downsized so that you can enjoy all of the usual features and functionality of the full version while it also has the capacity for integrating contacts from your address book too, so it works in a very efficient manner.

Another quick and easy solution for blogging needs is Blogger, which is a well-known application thanks to it’s incredibly simple to use interface. The mobile version is even better than the desktop counterpart, while thanks to it being thought up by Google means that it works really well with a Google account if you’re already using Gmail or their Docs online tools.

Needless to say, if you’re just after a way of social networking without the blogging then the Facebook app is another essential piece of software to install on your smartphone. Thanks to it being re-engineered to work on the smaller platform, you get all of the power tools of the desktop version, but it’s all really well condensed into the space of a smartphone screen.

This is really just a handful of the many and varied social networking apps that you can get for the smartphone handset. However, one thing to watch if you’re keen to explore this area more is that the quality control found on something like the Android Market can be a little hit and miss. So, before installing anything, it’s a good idea to read some reviews by fellow social networking types, just to ensure you’re going to use a program that delivers the goods.

Download uTorrent 3.0 Final Version With File Sharing And Streaming Options

uTorrent 3.0 Final has been released. I have updated my uTorrent 3 beta and no problems have been encountered ever since. The beta of uTorrent 3 was a long process which finally came to an end.

uTorrent 3.0 stable comes out with lots of improvements and new features. We have already discussed a few features in uTorrent 3 beta article. The streaming feature was not working in the beta but it has finally started working in the stable release. Here are some of the highlights of uTorrent 3.0 stable version:

  • µTorrent Web for zero-conf, secure remote access

  • Torrent Ratings

  • Drop files to send

  • Streaming

  • Webseeding fixes

  • Portable mode

  • Simplified view

  • The most notable feature that I like is the file sharing feature. You can drop the files to uTorrent drop box and easily share the file with anyone on the Internet without uploading it anywhere on the Internet. The file will be seeded through your computer.

uTorrent 3 also includes a remote management feature in which you can access your uTorrent from anywhere on the Internet through a web console. The web console can be access from here.
One feature that’s still in beta is uChat. With uChat you can chat with other uTorrent users around the world which will be a big improvement and will promote community based ‘social torrenting’.
In the stable version you’ll need to enable Video streaming. It is disabled by default. To enable video streaming go to Options –> Preferences –> Streaming.
Here you can adjust different streaming settings including the default media player, buffering etc.

Six Tips for Extending iPhone Battery Life

A guest article by Sachin from Powertraveller.

For those who rely on their iPhone for business and work, extending the battery life of their phone can be an essential requirement rather than a source of mere inconvenience. Carrying an additional battery or using a solar battery charger are supplementary steps you can take to ensure you’re always powered up and connected.

1. Turn Off or Limit These Applications and Settings

Push Email – leaving push email turned on means your phone is always connected to the server.

  • Push Notification – if you have a lot of applications that support push notification, this can seriously drain your battery.
  • Fetch – turn off automatic fetch if manual fetching of emails, contacts and calendars is not a problem. Alternatively, you can reduce the frequency at which your phone fetches.
  • Location Services such as Maps, Camera and Compass – switching these off will definitely save power.
  • Wi-Fi – if there is no need to keep scanning for Wi-Fi, be sure to have it turned off.
  • 3G – Go to Settings > General > Network and set Enable 3G to Off.
  • Bluetooth – if you rarely use Bluetooth, such as with a headset or car kit, keep this turned off.
  • Vibration – turn vibration off, especially if you play games.

2. Other Setting to Watch

Equaliser Settings – if you frequently listen to music on your iPhone turn off the equaliser settings to extend battery life.

  • Auto Lock Settings – one minute for the auto lock is a good time frame. This will have the phone automatically switch off the screen after one minute of inactivity.
  • Screen Brightness – screen brightness is one of the biggest drainers of your iPhone battery. Dim the screen brightness to a degree that is comfortable for your eyes.
  • Other Background Services – turn off all background programs and services that are not being used.

3. Keep Software Updated

Make sure you have the latest software updates on your phone. This not only helps with syncing with your Mac or PC, it can assist with extending battery life by making all applications and settings work more effectively.

4. Buy Songs and Applications on iTunes

If you have purchased songs and apps through your phone, you will have noticed the effect on your battery life. Purchase through iTunes on your PC or Mac where possible to avoid taxing your battery during extensive download times.

5. Battery Maintenance

Regular Charge Cycle

For the best battery performance, make sure go through a regular charge cycle at least once a month. This can be done by completely draining and then fully charging the battery. Fully charging the battery synchronises the battery with the phone fuel gauge, allowing the phone to “remember" what is full capacity.

Limit exposure to sunlight or other sources of heat. Excessive heat can damage the lifespan of your battery and affect its performance. Keep your iPhone out of the car, including the glove box, and out of direct sunlight on hot days.

6. Airplane Mode in Low Coverage Areas

If you are out of range or in a low coverage area, switch to airplane mode to maximise battery life. Airplane mode turns everything off except for Wi-Fi, so you will not be able to make calls. If you travel a lot, a solar charger can help you recharge your phone on the road.

With TeamSpeak, now you can create your own VOIP network. You can have your own server and only the clients that you want will be able to connect to the server.

Download utorrent 3 Beta

We have finally got utorrent 3 beta after some time. It was in alpha stages for some time now. The new release shows some promise with lots of new features. The look and feel of the torrent client has also been changed. Some of the new features include easy sharing of files (just drag and drop!), streaming, portable mode, and a brand-new simplified view.

utorrent 3 beta

When I first downloaded utorrent 3 beta and tried to open the executable, suprisingly utorrent 2.2.1 opened up and I came to know that you’ll need to close the previous version of utorrent for utorrent 3 beta to work.

utorrent 3 beta adds a cool new feature to find content. Now you can search for torrents through utorrent but the search is actually from Google and does not open in utorrent, opens in the default browser itself. Here are the release highlights of the new release:

  • µTorrent Web for zero-conf, secure remote access
  • Torrent Ratings
  • Drop files to send
  • Streaming
  • Webseeding fixes
  • Portable mode (when run in standalone mode off a removable drive)
  • Simplified view

There are two version of utorrent 3 beta, 32-bit and 64-bit. 32-bit is more of a stable build while the 64-bit version is buggy right now so 32-bit edition should be preferred at this time.

Monitor Shared Folders In Windows

Shared folders in Windows is a great way to share files and folders across the local network. If you have more than one computer at home or at office, you can easily share your files among the computers without doing any hard work. Windows makes it very easy to share folders.

Windows provides a way to monitor the shared folders so that you can know who is accessing the shared folders on your computer. The tools provided by Windows are complex and not meant for normal users. To see who is accessing your share folders, right click Computer –> Manage –> Shared Folders –> Open Files.

This will give you the list of files open by remote users. It also gives the username by which the file is being accessed. But we can’t set alerts to when the files are accessed. There is a software which makes the monitoring process very easy. NetShareMonitor is a security app which can alert you when a user connect to a share on your computer. The session information includes remote host address, remote user name, list of accessed files and time of connection. Entire details pertaining to each session will be logged to file for future analysis. This logging feature is not available in the default Windows shared folder monitoring tool.

It can also alert you of null sessions. Null sessions are the users connecting to your share folders without a username. This is a technique usually used by hackers.
